Dear Corporate donor,
My name is Trina Seligman. I am a naturopathic doctor and a patient with ulcerative colitis. In June 2015, I will climb the Leaning Tower in Yosemite National Park, a 110-degree overhanging climb, that will take 3 days; to raise money for research sponsored by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).
I’m asking your organization to be a donor for The Climb to Cure Crohn’s and Colitis.
Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s are autoimmune diseases in which the immune system attacks the bowel, causing abdominal pain, diarrhea and bleeding. Medications may reduce symptoms, but there is no cure. By sponsoring my climb, you can help support research that may one day improve the lives of the more than 1.4 million Americans who suffer from these diseases.
Climbing the Leaning Tower is more than just my personal goal. I want to inspire patients who may feel their life choices are limited by their condition. The Leaning Tower is one of America’s most continuously overhanging cliffs.
During my climb, I will send daily email and Facebook posts (as technology allows), including the names of my corporate sponsors, as I raise awareness of Crohn’s and colitis. The CCFA, which is supporting the climb, will be updating patients via their website. In the Northwest region alone, the CCFA has more than 17,000 email contacts and 1,100 Facebook friends. In addition, through my work with Team Challenge, the CCFA half-marathon training program, I am in contact with hundreds of new healthy and active participants annually.
For all of us who suffer from these diseases and hope for a cure, I want to thank you for your support. Your corporate sponsorship of The Climb to Cure Crohn’s and Colitis is 100 percent tax deductible and will support research that may one day CURE these diseases.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
Never, never, never give up,
Trina Seligman, N.D.
Climb: Leaning Tower, Yosemite National Park, June 2015. The climb will take 3 days.
Overview: My name is Trina Seligman. I am a Naturopathic Doctor, and a patient with Ulcerative Colitis. In June, 2015, I will climb the Leaning Tower in Yosemite National Park to raise money for research by donating my proceeds to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). In the months coming up to the climb in June, I will be soliciting donations from patients with IBD through my own connections as an active Mentor for Team Challenge for 6 years, Board Member of CCFA, and Naturopathic Doctor for 18 years. I will be sending weekly updates of my journey by Facebook, email and hard letters to Medical Practitioners and Professionals. I will have a personal fundraising page through CCFA and the Climb will be highlighted at the annual luncheon in Seattle which has about 400 attendees. Also, my climb will be featured on the CCFA Northwest Facebook page (1,100 fans) and newsletter (17,000 constituents).
Why Sponsor: By sponsoring this climb, you will reach an exclusive, targeted audience and expand your reach into the Seattle community as well as specifically the IBD community. In addition, outdoor enthusiasts will learn more about your products. Your company will be highlighted as one that supports philanthropic measures and invests in the life-saving and life changing efforts of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA): The CCFA is the leading nonprofit organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. The CCFA is a 501c3 charitable foundation. The Northwest Chapter serves a five-state region including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Through various programs, the CCFA Northwest supports an estimated 60,000 Crohn’s and Colitis patients and family members. The Team Challenge (half marathon endurance training program) engages over 100 participants annually in the Seattle area. I am actively involved in the team and help teach team-members about nutrition as they embark on an endurance training program. Of every dollar donated to the Foundation, $0.80 is utilized by mission-critical programs including: research, education, and support. The Foundation consistently meets standards established by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance as well as other charity watchdog organizations, and recently received a Four Star rating from Charity Navigator.
